Everyone is always so wrapped up in the future. “In the future, if I have this, I will be happy. If I do this, I will be happy. If I become that, I will be happy” okay, but what about now? What makes you happy now? Are you even happy? Personally, I spend a lot of time thinking about where I want to study in the future, where I want to travel to, where I want to get married, how many kids I want to have… and now that I’m thinking about it, I don’t think I’ve ever thought about any present day half as much as future days. This makes me wonder why, why are we so wrapped up in the future? And I think a pretty simple explanation to that is because the future is not certain. People are scared of what they don’t have control over, they are scared of the unknown. That is why we tend to over think our future, because we have no control over it, or at least with respect to the control we have over our present day. Not knowing how things will turn out is scary, but missing out on present days which then become weeks then years because you were too focused on the future, is just as scary. Which is why it’s always a good plan to live each day by itself, and for what it is. To take life step by step if you will.
